Syllabi

 Benefits and Function of Automatic Slide and Swing Door Systems is a course based on the codes and standards that govern Automatic Entrances.  Specifically, ADA, ANSI/BMHA codes, as well as AAADM and how these will determine a portion of your design.  We will also look at how the industry thinks out of the box to accommodate both design and functionality.   

 Airport Breach Control Discusses exit lane technology and automatic entrance solutions as it relates to safety and security for airports.  It will also cover the different technologies available today, breach control, throughput and object detection.  Also discussed will be automatic storefront solutions to provide safety and security for passengers, while providing convenience and aesthetic advantages to the airports.

Creativity and Designing Entrance in a Healthcare Environment, where we discuss many of the options of doors the industry has to offer for all of your egress needs. From sliding automatic doors, swinging automatic operators, ICC/CCU entrance solutions as well as clean room doors.  We also review some industry stands and codes to pay attention to in design phase.  

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System

Description: This 1 hour AIA/CES course discusses automatic sliding doors and how they relate to codes and safety. Included will be conversation on AAADM (Association of American Automatic Door Manufacturers), the differing codes governing automatic sliding doors, advances in technology that eliminate danger, and a discussion as to how automatic doors provide convenience and aesthetic advantages to the building owner.

Learning Objectives: 1) The participant will gain knowledge of the ANSI 156.10 standard and how it applies to automatic sliding doors.

                              2) Understand when to specify one type of automatic sliding door product from another.

                              3) Understand the types of traffic requirements in particular design criteria that dictates what type of automatic sliding door to specify.

How Taught:  The speaker will present a power point presentation and seek to actively involve participants.

A/V needed:  The speaker will require a conference room with adequate seating for all participants, a screen, and a projector for a laptop.

Target Audience:  Architects that design hospitality, educational and healthcare facilities, as well as those that are aware of yet desire a better understanding of sliding door automation.

Presenter Qualifications: The facilitator has an abundance of knowledge in the automatic door industry. Using this gained knowledge, the presenter has shared his unique perspective and understanding with several architectural firms, retailers, healthcare facilities and hospitality groups. Also, as an active member of the AAADM (Association of American Automatic Door Manufactures) Certification Committee, the presenter will be able to discuss in detail the ANSI/BHMA 156.10 and 156.19 standards.  

Costs: There will not be any cost to the participant. A box lunch will be served.
